谈《空军一号》
笔者在前文那篇《夺面双雄》的小说写法中，写过这么一段话：
“40年代到80年代，好莱坞将古典文学名著与畅销流行小说改编拍成电影，数量之多，不胜枚举。
“近年时移世易，不少作家把最新卖座电影和著名电视连续剧的剧本改编成小说。“
新片Air Force One《空军一号》就是另一个显著的例子.
小说的封面上印着：A Novel by Max Allan Collins based on a screenplay written by
Andrew WMarlowe.
空军一号是'Air Force One' 的直译，历届美国总统的私人飞机都称为'Air Force One'.
现在我们先谈小说的楔子摘要:'Terrorists have seized Air Force One thirtu thousand feet
above the earth.'
“恐怖分子在离地面三万尺的高空骑劫空军一号。“
'The President. the First Lady ,their thirteen-year-old daughter ,and more
than fifty innocent peo-ple are on board.'
“飞机上有总统、第一夫人、他们十三岁的女儿和五十多位无辜的乘客。“
起头两段，写得相当紧凑，限于篇幅，我们下文再谈吧。
Elton John: Candle in the Wind
戴妃之死，举世同悲，英国名歌星艾顿庄(Elton John)在她举殡之日，唱出了这一首哀怨感人的《风中烛光》(Candle in the wind)，想信大家都在电视直播的戴妃葬礼中听过了。这几天从新闻报道中得知这张纪念戴妃的新唱片一经部世，立即在英法两国掀起了抢购热潮。销售唱片所得的款项，将会拨入戴妃的慈善基金，饶有意义。
现在笔者替读者抄当整首歌词，辅以中译。听歌学英语，寓学习于娱乐，也是个学习语言的好办法。空闲时看着歌词跟着Elton John一起哼唱吧：

Loveliness we've lost; these empty days without your smile.
（从此不见你的笑容；我们顿感寂寞虚空。）
This torch we'll always carry ofr our nation's golden child.
（大家以后常持火炬，纪念我国这位圣女.）
And even though we try .the truth brings us to tears.
（纵使我们尽力压抑，事实仍教我们泪滴；）
Al our words cnnot express the joy you brought us through the years.
（纵有千言万语，亦难道尽你历年带来的欢愉。）
And it seems to me you lived your life like a candld in the wind:
（在我看来，你这一生一世，犹似烛立风中摇曳：）
never fading with the sunset when the rain setin.
